Becoming a concept artist for the game and film industry is difficult, especially when tools and projects keep evolving with time. The boot-camp is a short but practical approach to teaching you the mentality and foundations that will help you grow as a concept artist. You will learn elements that allow you to transcend trends. Things like how to work with clients, finding time for personal growth, adapting to new tools as they come, and maintaining professional relationships.
What you can expect in the boot-camp. We will work on a Mock Project, that will be treated as freelance work and we will meet 2-3 times out of the week (We are all working individuals and crunch is a common occurrence). We'll act as the Art Director/Creative Director, and you will work as freelancers. The difference of course is that if you do poorly or fail, I will guide you through and help you understand what you can do if this occurs in real situations. The project will absolutely create tons of great portfolio pieces as you can check out in the student gallery. Also, each class will have mini demonstrations and feed back that will apply to every student and will help further your abilities as a whole.
This class is made for every level, but if you feel the need to wait and develop your skills, we have an array of affordable tutorials you can purchase here.
Each instructor runs their boot-camps slightly differently so be sure to email and talk it over with them to see if it's what you'd prefer. Fall courses will begin Mid/Late August/September of 2016.
Sometimes the classes sell out. If so please sign up to the waiting list to get early access to purchasing and discounts!
*After purchasing a seat, we will put you on the class roster for the upcoming course. If you don't hear from of us please email us at email@example.com with proof of purchase to be sure you are on the roster. Thanks and we will see you in class.*
UPDATE: Kalen's Mentor-ship is under current hiatus due to his current work schedule . We are hoping to get classes started again in the fall. Stay tuned and thanks for your patience ! :)

In the mentor-ship we meet up 2-3 times a week ( depending on instructors given class schedule ) online via GoToMeeting application . You will need a Skype/Discord account in order to be invited to the group chat where certain announcements and updates will be made . We provide you with a private link each session and we meet as a whole and provide feedback/critique students work . We provide lecture videos for you to watch each week to help you along with the class.
DOES IT MATTER IF I HAVE A MAC OR PC / LAPTOP ?
It does not matter what kind of computer you are using . As long as it has a decent internet connection and it can run a digital painting program like Photoshop !
I HAVE PURCHASED A CLASS BUT REALIZED I CAN NO LONGER PARTICIPATE , CAN I GET A REFUND?
You will have exactly 7 days from your purchase to inquire about a refund. After that unfortunately we no longer can do so . However , you can save your purchase for a later class date. Meaning that if you bought a class and you no longer can take it , you can use it as class credit and take the class later on down the line. We understand sometimes purchasing such things can be a big decision and we encourage you talk to us before purchasing a class if you are unsure . That way we can assist you to make the best decision for yourself , even if it isn't with us .
WHAT PROGRAMS ARE NEEDED FOR THE MENTOR-SHIP?
Students are welcome to use any programs they feel to get the assignments done . However, feedback and critiques will be done in Photoshop and various 3-D Packages. Only thing that is required is a decent internet connection in order to meet for class sessions.
WHAT IF I MISS CLASS , OR I AM LATE , OR MY INTERNET EXPLODES 0_0 ?!!
Here at Robotpencil we live by the code , " art is easy , life is hard " . With that said we realize that life can happen in the most unexpected ways . Luckily all class sessions are recorded and uploaded to a private playlist that only students can access. So as long as you can turn in your homework , you can watch the feedback at a later time as well as come back to each class recording in case you forgot something.
WHAT LEVEL OF SKILL IS REQUIRED FOR THE MENTOR-SHIP PROGRAM ?
All Levels are accepted in mentor-ship program. Because we do not give the same assignment to everyone we work each student at their current pace and skill level . Basic knowledge of Photoshop and digital painting is the biggest thing we recommend students have , knowledge of any 3-D Package is always a plus too. I SIGNED UP FOR A ONE MONTH CLASS, BUT i AM ENJOYING IT A LOT! CAN I EXTEND TO THE 2 MONTH SESSION ?
YES! We understand some students may want to test the waters when it comes to online classes . As long as the instructor is offering a two month option all you have to do is consult your instructor to make sure there is room.
